Jonny Modena is a writer, producer, engineer, and artist that vocalizes a mix of emotion evoking experiences, nostalgic melodies, and brazen lyrics that almost anyone could relate to. Influenced by legends of hip hop such as The Roots, OutKast, Nas, Wu Tang Clan, 2Pac, and Eminem, he grew up battle-rapping and freestyling publicly, earning the respect of his peers in his hometown of Newport News, Va. In the mid 2000s, Jonny Modena built a home studio in his townhouse. In 2007 he wrote, produced, and locally released his first album, The Jonny Modena Show.

In February of 2018, Jonny Modena founded Modena Music Group, an independent record label. He spent the year writing, recording, and focusing on finding his “voice”. In August, he released his debut album, King Of Rap. Having created an ode to his battle-rap origins, he set out to write his sophomore album, a more personal project built around his experiences with love, life, and everything in between. Bonnie was released in February of 2019.

In November 2019 Jonny Modena released his third studio album, Life Is Strange, a bird’s view perspective of his experiences from life as a teenager to having his first child. In Q1 2021 he released Love and War, a 4 song EP that took his listeners through the ups, downs, and natural evolution of a long term relationship that comes full circle.

Jonny Modena is currently focusing on promoting his new music and establishing a deeper connection with his audience through his songs. In his words “You don’t have to be an icon to be iconic. It is ok to be self-serving when creating. I create music that is organic to me, what I enjoy listening to. My goal as a writer and a composer is to reach other people that can identify with the story I’m telling. It’s all about the connection. Finding common ground. Making an impact. That’s the sweet spot in the creation process for me, and it never lets me down.”
